Overview
How does QABA credential maintenance work?
All QABA credentials (QBA, QASP-S, ABAT) require renewal every two years. If you don't meet the requirements within the renewal period, the credential lapses, and to regain it you must re-take the exam from the start.
Right after earning / renewing
- Start earning CEUs in your qababoard.com account
- Add the renewal deadline to your calendar
Throughout the renewal period
- Earn CEUs to meet your credential's requirements (Ethics, General, TIC, etc.)
- Keep your Certificate of Attendance after each course
- Comply with the ethics code and confirm no change in criminal record
From 60 days before the deadline
- Renewal applications open after logging into qababoard.com
- Upload certificates and pay the renewal fee
- Late fees apply after the deadline ($50–$100)

When is my renewal deadline?
Your renewal deadline is exactly two years after the deadline of the quarter (QBA/QASP-S) or half-year (ABAT) in which you earned the credential. Note that it is not based on the exact date you earned it.

Activities That Count as CEUs
Every CEU requires a certificate that includes the presenter's signature and name. The presenter must hold a master's degree or higher in a relevant field.

Frequently Asked Questions
If you're up to 30 days late, a $50 late fee applies; up to 90 days, $100. If you miss the entire two-year renewal period, the credential lapses, and to regain it you must again meet all initial requirements — coursework, fieldwork, the exam, and so on.
Yes. Online courses from QABA-approved providers count without limit. However, seminars and webinars from non-accredited providers count for up to 2 CEUs per renewal cycle. In addition, QBA holders must complete 25% (8 hours) and ABAT holders 25% (3 hours) via live contact.
Keep the Certificate of Attendance you receive after each course, and upload it to your qababoard.com account when you apply for renewal. The certificate must include the presenter's signature and name. Because QABA may request original certificates during an audit, we recommend keeping originals for at least seven years.
